The wait for new Donald Glover material is almost over, and Atlanta has already been hailed as one of the best new shows coming to television. The pilot was directed by Glover’s longtime collaborator Hiro Murai, and was shot in Atlanta this past year. It’s set to premiere on FX this summer.
“It’s the show I always wanted to see on television,” Glover said. “It’s easier to comment on what’s happening on TV. TV shows are like novels now, you have to invest in them.”
FX recently aired a sneak peek of the show, featuring an interview with the main cast. Glover plays Earnest “Earn” Marks, who returns home to Atlanta when his cousin’s music video goes viral. He’s joined by Keith Stanfield, Brian Tyree Henry, Zazie Beetz—and Isiah Whitlock Jr., also known as Senator Clay Davis. Hopefully Glover’s sneaks in a sheeeeit.
