In a since-deleted tweet, Tyler, The Creator admitted that his lyrics on his 2013 albumĀ Wolf weren’t entirely true to life, at least the ones that addressed his father. In several instances on the record, he lamented his lack of relationship with his estranged father, but yesterday, he tweeted, “I WASNT EVEN SAD ABOUT MY DAD ON WOLF I JUST DID THAT CAUSE I KNEW YALL WOULD EAT IT UP I WAS OVER THAT ON BASTARD HAHAHA IM A SHITHEAD.”

As Complex notes, the lyrical content of Wolf may have been less a reflection of Tyler’s real life and more a continuation of the narrative of his character Sam from the Wolf trilogy of albums.

In an ensuing series of tweets, Tyler went back and forth on whether or not his next album would see him “going pop,” leaving the matter in the air as his thick sarcasm is hard to pin down online.
