Yeethoven is a performance that highlights “the fundamental musical similarities between the works of Beethoven and the works of Kanye [West],” according to conductor Yuga Cohler. The event took place last night at the Aratani Theatre in Los Angeles, and featured a setlist that combined six compositions by Ludwig van Beethoven and six songs from Kanye’s Yeezus album.
“Yeezus appealed to both of us as something that transcended genre, and had more in common with some of our favorite classical music than it did with other hip-hop records,” composer Stephen Feigenbaum said.
