During the first three weeks following the release of Drake’s Views, the album was streamed 245 million times (the current single-week record), 141 million times, and 186 million times (when the album was no longer Apple-exclusive), respectively (according to The New York Times).
Those numbers are big, but more impressive in context: For the week ending April 28, Beyoncé’s Lemonade set the then-record for single-week streaming numbers, with 115.2 million. This means that each of the first three streaming weeks for Views, which total 572 million, are in the top three streaming weeks for a single release of all time.
Unsurprisingly, Drake was recently named the top streaming artist on Spotify, dethroning Justin Bieber for the title. For more comparison, Chance The Rapper’s Coloring Book mixtape was just streamed 57.3 million times in its first week, which was good enough for a No. 8 debut on the Billboard 200 chart.
