The Roots have been all over the NBA recently, first with this Gatorade commercial that shows Dwyane Wade shooting in an icy gym to “Stay Cool,” and now with a new commercial for ABC’s coverage of the NBA Finals, which features 30 seconds of a new track by the group titled “Show Me You’re A Champion,” presumably made for the ad.

“I go from tragedy to majesty / the victory has been woven into my tapestry / This ain’t the type of opportunity that just appears / I made it here because I shed blood, sweat, and tears,” Black Thought raps as the band performs on a dark outdoor basketball court surrounded by visions of NBA greats like Larry Bird, Steph Curry, Michael Jordan, and others.

The NBA Finals are scheduled to begin on June 2, and will feature the winner of the Cleveland Cavaliers/Toronto Raptors series in the Eastern Conference Finals, and the winner of the Golden State Warriors/Oklahoma City Thunder series in the Western Conference Finals.
