Chance The Rapper has accomplished a lot, especially when you consider the fact that he’s only 23 years old. But in this newly unearthed clip of a 17-year-old Chance at an open mic will really give you some perspective.

The video shows Chance performing “Nostalgia” from his 10 Day mixtape at a YOUmedia open mic event, held at the Harold Washington Library in Chicago. He looks a little different than he does now, but in terms of his sound and flow, it was clear even then that Chance was on the path to something great.

As Complex points out, YOUmedia open mics were something of a “launch pad” for Chance The Rapper.

“The majority of the dope, young artists that are in Chicago came out of that bitch,” explained Chance. “They used to have this open mic there every Wednesday that we would all go to, and it was from 5 to 7 every Wednesday […] I met damn near all the producers on #10Day through this library. It was the spot.”

Earlier this month, Chance shared the highly anticipated follow-up to Acid Rap, Coloring Book, which is now available on all streaming platforms. Chance also shared the uplifting video for “No Problem” featuring 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne this week.
