ScHoolboy Q’s long-awaited Blank Face album is on the horizon, arriving at the end of next week on July 8. As the follow-up to 2014’s Oxymoron, it’s easy to see why ScHoolboy’s upcoming fourth studio album is so highly anticipated considering his pedigree. After the release of the Kanye West-featuring “THat Part,” “By Any Means: Part (1),” and the foreboding “Groovy Tony,” it’s evident that ScHoolboy has put his all into the album. As everything that’s great about him as a rapper, it’s safe to say there’s high hopes for the album after the promising singles he’s released.
Appearing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night, ScHoolboy Q brought along a blank-faced band and performed “THat Part,” sans Kanye West, unfortunately. However, to make up for the lack of ‘Ye, he performed an intimidating, percussion free section of “Groovy Tony” before perfectly transitioning into “THat Part.” His band really makes the performance sound that much better, even if their faces are a little scary to look at with their complete lack of emotion.
Blank Face is set to feature Jadakiss, Lance Skiiiwalker, Vince Staples, Candic Pillay, E-40, Tha Dogg Pound, SZA, Anderson .Paak, Miguel, and more. Watch the performance of “THat Part” above, and check out the cinematic trailer for the album below.
