Over the past few years, Joey Bada$$ has been working on building his resume and perfecting his acting skills—a passion he’s had since high school. Back in 2014, we caught our first glimpse at the Brooklyn rapper’s acting ability is a short film produced by Green Label titled, “No Regrets.” However, it appears in the time since then, Joey has been auditioning for and has landed himself some other major roles.
Earlier this year it was reported that Joey would be joining the cast of USA’s new hit show Mr. Robot for season two, which begins tonight. But according to him, that wasn’t the only big role he was recently offered.
During a short interview with Rolling Stone, Joey revealed that he was offered the opportunity to be in an upcoming biopic about President Obama, titled Barry, but had to turn it down because an already-booked appearance at Coachella.
“The week that they wanted to shoot was the week that I had to play Coachella,” he said. But, Joey wasn’t in line for the role of Obama himself. “I was supposed to be his best friend,” Joey explained. “I was the guy who was supposed to show him the projects, and show him how black people was living in America at the time.”
