Although Drake popularized "The 6" as an affectionate nickname for his hometown of Toronto, a new poll suggests that just about no one actually calls the city The 6.

According to The Toronto Star, a study was conducted with the aim to answer the question, "what it means to be a resident." A random sample of 864 individuals were asked how they referred to the city, and four options were given by Forum Research, the company that conducted the poll: The 6, Toronto, T.O., and "Other."

Results show that Torontonians aren't huge fans of nicknames, with a whopping 75% of the group referring to it simply as "Toronto." Only 7% of the 864 subjects—mostly within the 18-34 age group—refer to the city as The 6. "T.O." proved to be a more popular nickname, with 10% referring to Toronto as such. Even "Other" received 8% of the vote, ahead of The 6 by 1%.

This doesn't necessarily mean that Drake's influence is waning, though. President of Forum Research Lorne Bozinoff points out that as the younger generations age, Toronto "might get more and more people saying 'The 6'." Bozinoff says that the study will have to be redone next year to find out once and for all if The 6 is still relevant.

So, best of luck to Drake ahead of next year's study. Who knows? Maybe "The 6" will actually catch on with the older folks.
