For almost thirty years, The Simpsons have kept their finger right on the pulse when it comes to the topics covered on their episodes. Many times, the writers have even managed to be far ahead of the curve. As they prepare to go into their 28th season this September, it has been reported that The Simpsons will air a special hour-long hip-hop themed episode titled “The Great Phatsby.”
This upcoming episode is expected to feature some familiar voices with guest appearances from Taraji P. Henson and comedian Keegan-Michael Key of Key and Peele. The plot of the episode will focus on Mr. Burns’ friendship with a major hip-hop mogul named Jay G. It will also have Henson playing a character similar to her character of Cookie Lyon on Fox’s hit series Empire. The hour-long episode will also feature music created by Jim Beanz, who produces music for Empire.
It has not yet been announced when “The Great Phatsby” will officially air, but there’s no doubt that it will be an event Simpsons fans won’t want to miss.
