After announcing the release date of his upcoming album at a recent show in Coney Island, Travis Scott’s second studio album was nowhere to be seen on August 5. Due to launch on the same day Frank Ocean’s fabled Boys Don’t Cry was reported to, Scott’s Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight was mysteriously absent, and now he’s addressed the situation directly via his Instagram. “August 5th we was suppose to set this off,” the post reads, “But [due] to ‘technical difficulties’ we had to move it to the 12th.”

The post advertises a ‘.WAV PARTY’ event on August 12 9 p.m., assumedly L.A. time. “That being said kids we eat friday. Join me and Chase B for a free experience somewhere in L.A. for the start of Bird Szn. Tune in on the 12th, and you shall be guided.”

It’s not entirely clear what the event will be, but judging from the way he says that event will be the start of something, it doesn’t really imply that Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight will drop in its entirety on August 12. It could be a premiere of the album in full on Apple Music, or it could be something else entirely that leads up to the release.
