Tidal recently launched a new video series called DNA, which offers a closer look at artists. In one of the latest episodes, Desiigner spoke about what his music means to him, and why he doesn't consider what he makes hip-hop. Distancing himself from the rapper label, he said, "None of my dudes I chill with are rappers." He continued, "I don't put us as rappers. We're all artists. In the G.O.O.D. Music camp, we all come around and we show ourselves and present ourselves as artists only."

During the interview segment of the show, he also added that he considers it a "blessing" to be part of the G.O.O.D. Music family, surrounding himself with people as talented as Pusha T, Kanye West, and Big Sean among others. Speaking with host Angie Martinez, he said, "I don't necessarily call my music hip-hop, I just call it Fetty Wap. I'm a melody person. I make melodies and add flavor to it."
