Ahead of his newly announced forthcoming album, Woptober, Gucci Mane sat down with Funkmaster Flex for an interview regarding his life post-prison. While he was released from prison a new man earlier this year, getting back to work and releasing Everybody Looking remarkably quick, he's remained on house arrest until recently. That means anyone hoping to work with Guwop in person had to visit his house, but now all of that has changed.
With his house arrest officially over, Gucci appeared on Hot 97 to be as open as possible about how prison changed him for the better, explaining, "I was spiraling out of control, so it really stopped me cause I would've been dead." He went on to explain that his subsequent weight loss while incarcerated was a way for him relieve stress, and that since leaving prison he's stopped taking drugs and drinking alcohol altogether, saying that it reminds him of prison.
During the 16-minute chat with Flex, Gucci also mentions his blossoming friendship with Drake, who he's been working with. He also took time to praise artists like 21 Savage, Young M.A., Lil Uzi Vert, and Lil Yachty. It seems that Gucci is all about positivity now, and he's got a lot of love for the new wave of rappers.
