Travis Scott released his highly anticipated second studio album on September 2, and based on its first week performance, it's set to be his biggest success yet. Nielsen Music is reporting that Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Chart with 88,000 equivalent album units, with 53,000 in traditional album sales. The album, which features a a lot of interesting guests, was released exclusively through iTunes and Apple Music.
As Billboard points out, Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight is the fifth Apple Music and iTunes exclusive to hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart this year. Previous No. 1 exclusives have been Frank Ocean's Blonde, DJ Khaled's Major Key, Drake's Views, and Future's Evol. Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight accumulated an astonishing 50.2 million streams during its first week of release. By comparison, last year's Rodeo charted at No. 3 with 85,000 units during its launch week, with 70,000 in traditional album sales. Even if it's not the biggest increase in sales, the album has still given Travis his first No. 1 album.
It's also worth pointing out that Drake's Views still refuses to leave the top ten, sitting at No. 3 this week, despite releasing all the way back in April.
