Lil Wayne has a bit of a strange 2016, going into the year with the weight of his legal situation with Birdman and Cash Money Records hanging over him. With the release of his long-awaited album Carter 5 looking highly unlikely in the wake of this ongoing situation, Wayne hasn't exactly been able to give fans what they want recently. Preventing the release of the album, it remains unclear as to when we can expect a new project from Wayne.

Fortunately, he revealed that he could very well have a new project out soon, regardless of what happens with Cash Money Records. "I have a whole bunch of good news coming soon," he said on a recent episode of The Nine Club podcast. He continued, explaining, "If you are a Wayne fan—I know you've been going through a lot of tough times right now—but if you are a Wayne fan, we're about to hold our heads high."

While he doesn't give a timeframe or release date for the forthcoming project, he did give us a name. Apparently the upcoming project is to be entitled Funeral, and we should expect to hear it fairly soon. Watch the whole interview above, with him discussing Funeral at around 56 minutes.
