    Kanye West

Album: Yeezus Why you should listen: You want something raw and visceral

While the two men may be friends, the close release dates of Jay-Z and Kanye's twelfth and sixth solo albums respectively meant that comparisons between the two albums couldn't be avoided. While Kanye West looked to push boundaries with the punishing, powerful production and provocative lyrics, Jay seems content to play it safe, both with the smoothly opulent production and with the luxury lifestyle lyrical content that comes so easily to the multi-millionaire. If you need the safe option to bump in the background you may well choose Magna Carta, but if you're looking for music that will make you actually feel something, whether that be pleasure, disgust, or just surprise, choose Yeezus.
