    Waxahatchee

When American Weekend came out in 2012, few people had paid any attention to it until Pitchfork's Lindsay Zoladz almost single-handedly brought the record into the spotlight. Katie Crutchfield, the woman behind Waxahatchee, followed up Weekend with a release this year entitled Cerulean Salt. That release allowed her to continue dominating the slow-strummed plaintive girl-folk that has reared its wonderfully sad head of late. This will be one of those sets in which most members of the audience are trying to blink back tears or somberly thinking of lost loves—but science has told us that listening to sad music is good for your health so make sure to see Crutchfield.
