    Shabba Ranks

If you’re an A$AP Ferg fan, you’ve heard the name Shabba Ranks by now. But if that was the first time you’d ever heard it, this is for you. In the late ‘80s through mid ‘90s, Shabba Ranks ruled dancehall. If his style of toasting (which is pretty similar to rapping) wasn’t enough to get you hooked, his sense of fashion would certainly draw your attention. It’s not too often that you come across a dancehall artist that can influence not just the Jamaican culture, but the American culture as well. In multiple episodes of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Will Smith references him by shouting the popular catchphrase “Shabba!” which gained popularity after his song “Mr. Loverman.”

Though Shabba hasn’t released as much music lately, it seems his creative spirits may have been renewed thanks to A$AP Ferg who got Shabba Ranks to not only make a quick cameo in the video but also hop on the remix.
