Social Justice Warrior is a strange pejorative. Strictly looking at it as a matter of semantics, it’s an inherently good thing. On Yeezy’s green Earth, being a warrior for social justice is only bad for people who want to “keep America American.” But weaving social issues into every essay about music is taking it too far. Conflating music and your moral and political stances won’t make you a heretic. It damn sure isn’t gonna make you Cesar Chavez or Susan B. Anthony one Overthought Piece at a time.
