Frank Ocean is the benchmark for success in 2012. As such he’s earned himself numerous accolades, countless admirers, and even the occasional imitator. You can’t blame aspiring artists for wanting to catch a ride on Frankie’s coattails though. What he’s been able to accomplish in such a short period of time is rather remarkable, and as long as a cover does the original justice, we’re generally willing to listen.

The latest to refix a track from the crooner’s catalogue is New Zealand-bred talent LIPS, whose ’80s synth-inspired take on “Super Rich Kids” makes a song knocking overprivileged silver spooners sound almost playful and lighthearted. Grab a free download of the cover below and be sure to keep an eye out for LIPS’ debut EP, Look, Listen, dropping October 25th.
