The denizens of the underground hip-hop world instantly know what time it is when Mr. Dibbs’ name gets shouted out, but do they know that he was clinically dead after the “quiet release” of Deadworld? As he tells it, he was in the hospital with Skandal da Ruckus Man, who recently passed away after a bout with leukemia.

Dibbs credits Skandal with helping him through a serious recovery period, and has re-released Deadworld as Deadworld Reborn because, in his words, “This man gave me back my fucking life.” Presented by Rhymesayers, Deadworld Reborn features the likes of Brother Ali, Murs, Dose One & Jel, and plenty of other acts, and is available on a “pay what you want” basis via Bandcamp, with all proceeds from Deadworld Reborn going to Skandal’s daughter and family. You can grab it for free, but if you’re so inclined and mess with the music, spend something and help Skandal’s family move forward.
