2012’s definitely the year that Trap made it’s definitive statement, and projects like DJ Comrade’s Favela Trap album are steps in the direction it should be going: different regions responding to the sound and flipping it with their own influences. Comrade took the slapping 808 sound and brought it straight to the favelas of Brazil, and his preview mix was a great example of what he was going for.

The Favela Trap project is out now, and XÃO Productions has hooked us up with a download from the project, the mighty “Cyclone.” It maintains the Brazilian flavors in the sampled/edited vocals, while riding a trunk-rattling bounce. Something heavy for you out there looking to spice up your Trap playlists!
