In celebration of Casimir Pulaski Day, an Illinois holiday held in memory of Revolutionary War hero Casimir Pulaski, Sufjan Stevens fittingly shared an early demo of his song named after the holiday. Said Stevens of the demo, which ultimately became the song that appeared on 2005’s Illinois via his Tumblr: “Not sure when I recorded this, but I was obviously still working it out.
