Chicago’s ambitious Ibn Inglor¬†follows up his dark August kick-off “WAXXX,” with “New Wave” a high octane electro-influenced take on the sound and aesthetic the emcee has developed over the past few months. “New Wave” sounds like the dystopia-tinted Chicago skyline its cover shows, a torrent of¬†Blade Runner-synths, thunderous drums, bells, and mystic chants. For those who’ve followed the young rapper’s catalog thus far, it’s a fitting outgrowth, a restless sound bed for Inglor’s venomous brags and observations, his delivery building from measured on the first verse, to largely unhinged on the second, to a golden mean of the two in the closing minute.

This final minute is its finest, a glimpse of Inglor’s energy, creativity, and vision combining in the sort of execution that made “WAXXX” his strongest track yet and that bodes well for future output. Give “New Wave” a listen below.
