Toronto in this bitch. Some Minor Noise describes themselves as an “indie electro” duo, an increasingly common classification for the combination of the male producer and female vocals. Jane Void and Wayne Doe have a sound that skews towards house and dance beats, but she stays firmly rooted in a soft, almost timid place, creating a nice contrast between the two that has come to a head in “Understanding.”

It starts as a nice snap ‘n clap groove that slowly increases in intensity before backing off again just before verging on cheese. Void’s voice recalls the breathy tones of Braids, floating between atmospheric synths to create a world all their own. Have a listen to “Understanding” below:
