Chicago’s Gio drinks. walked into the Fool’s Gold store and passed his tape to the cashier. It ended up in the hands of Peter Oasis, who has been playing this “Audio Dope” track on his WNYU radio show for the past couple of weeks. He passed it to me, and now we’re here. There’s nothing flashy about “Audio Dope,” but Gio flexes technical skill with an intensity that increases throughout the four-minute track, and while most rappers would get dominated by the bass-heavy beat, Gio stays in full control. If you’re sick of sing-songy hip-hop and rappers who can’t rap, check out Gio drinks.
