Rihanna’s “Needed Me” is one of our favorite songs of the year so far. The lyrics are, as Rihanna says herself, straight savage, and the beat never overwhelms the powerful vocal performance. DJ Mustard killed it, evolving from the formulaic sound that gave him his first hits and delivering a lurching, ominous production that helped boost the song into the charts.

What about a version aimed squarely at the club, though? Well that’s where Mess Kid comes in. The Detroit-bred, L.A.-based producer comes through with an uptempo new track, blending some of the most memorable vocals on “Needed Me” with the melody (and vocal drop) from Ty Dolla $ign’s “Saved,” and some hard ass drums.

This one is almost too much fun. Listen below.
