Exactly 19 years ago, Eminem dropped "My Name Is" a month before the release of his major-label debut album The Slim Shady LP. The cartoony Dr. Dre-produced single was one of Eminem's first hits, serving as his introduction to many listeners in the late '90s.

Looking back, Dreamville rapper J.I.D dropped a "lost freestyle" over the classic instrumental Thursday night. Judging by the "OG fans remember this" SoundCloud description, we're guessing he's resurfacing this one after previously taking down an old upload.

Remaining relatively faithful to the flow of Eminem's original, a young J.I.D flashes some early glimpses at the brilliant lyricism that made his 2017 album The Never Story so special. You can hear it on SoundCloud below.
