It’s crazy how hearing an overly familiar song reworked in a completely new fashion can be so mind blowing. Ok, I sound like a stoner now. Montreal’s Winter Gloves recently covered Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” because it was Kurt’s death day anniversary. (I’ll never understand that. Why not celebrate his birthday? Or the day he released Nevermind? I don’t get when people choose to remember a person more because it’s the day he/she died. When I’m gone, please remember me on any day other than the one on which I died.) Anyways, Winter Gloves do Nirvana’s mega hit with synths, glitchy blips, and children singing the chorus. I’m sure Kurt would have despised it, but I think it sounds pretty cool.
