Emay is one of those artists that, for some reason or another, I clicked with from my first listen. He’s a producer and an emcee, but he’s got a way with words and lets loose thoughts that seem like they’ve been internalized and scratching at the door waiting to be freed. You hear the term “keeping it real” all the time, but keeping it real seems to mean anything from talking about your newest automobile (I drive a 2001 Jeep), your lack of love for the opposite sex (I love girls with a passion), or just reiterating the fact that you have a large, steady income (I’m a student, an intern, and a blogger). That may be reality for some, but I’m going to go ahead and say that what Emay is doing is much more aligned with my idea of keeping it real.

Check it out, and let me know what you think if you’ve got an opinion. Check out a couple more of his songs that I’ve posted here.
