Matt Berninger, lead singer of The National, is one of those figures in music that garner extreme, rabid love from their supporters. I’m not gonna lie, I’m one of those supporters. He’s come to represent a lot, with his often monotone baritone pouring out what can only described as the most tautly honest and emotional poetry of the last decade. That’s definitely an overstatement, but I know there’s people out there who feel the same way. So it shouldn’t be surprising that the only other thing than H.A.M. I’ve listened to today is by a band called The Forms, simply because Berninger’s on the lead vocals. I don’t know anything about The Forms, but if their songs without Matt sound half as good as this I really like them.
