Frank Ocean‘s Channel Orange was released in July of 2012, and today it’s been revealed that the album has gone Gold, passing 500,000 in sales. With the Grammys around the corner, Frank is set to have another big night. He’ll be performing at the show, and he’s also up for Album of the Year and five other awards.

While the circumstances surrounding Ocean’s album release certainly drew attention to the young star and boosted sales, his critically acclaimed album is timeless in its nature, and he could be following in the footsteps of artists like Adele and Kendrick Lamar, who are sure to have a steady flow of sales long after that sometimes overemphasized first week.
