Continuing to support his fantastic Overgrown, James Blake stopped by “Late Show With David Letterman,” where he performed a haunting rendition of “Retrograde.” The interesting aspect of this appearance though, wasn’t so much the actual performance but rather the intimate social media add-ons Blake shared with his fans and followers. Much like we saw with Kanye and the Met Gala Vines, we as music listeners now live in a world where our evolving social media apps allow us not only sneak peaks of new material, but also glimpses of behind the scenes moments previously reserved for only those in artists’ inner most circles. It’s what has transformed a late night show appearance like this from “oh I hope I DVR’d that” to something people make a point to tune into. And that’s awesome.
