Jay Electronica is a patient man. Much more so than his fans, who have been waiting for an album from the hip-hop legend for quite some time. But Jay has been on the move recently. The hermetic aspects of his disposition have been replaced by a growing frustration with the music industry. Over the last year, Jay Electronica has started to appear in public and on guest verses, like this collab with Common and Vince Staples.


Yesterday, Jay’s frequent collaborator and fellow legend No I.D. posted a video to Instagram. He caught the rapper in a moment of concentration, mouthing lyrics along to what could be new material.

There have been other rumblings. The Bullitts teased a collaboration with the Candy Man and MF Doom last month, and let’s not forget that this happened back in July at the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival:


Still, all we know for sure about Jay’s (fingers crossed) coming album is that it will be done his way. Jay Z is heavily involved too—a week before No I.D.’s video, Mr. Flowers shared this photo of Mr. Carter hard at work on a laptop:
