Skepta has been making the rounds in New York City as of late, stopping by media outlets and radio stations while abroad stateside. Today, Hot 97 released its video interview with the grime rapper and covered most bases.
He and longtime host Peter Rosenberg discussed the “All Day” performance at the BRIT Awards, Drake, the loss of friend and fellow rapper Lukey World, the strategic teasing of music ahead of official releases, and much more.
“When I was trying to make songs to go to America, to go to Japan, they’d never work,” Skepta explained, saying he had to mature to reach the point where his music could authentically spread.
