Kendrick Lamar headlined the second night of Osheaga festival in Montreal tonight, performing to an audience packed with die hard fans who were chanting the hook to “Alright” before he even hit the stage. After running through tracks from Good Kid M.A.A.D City, To Pimp A Butterfly, and even his verse on “Fuckin’ Problems’,” it was time for the one-two punch of “King Kunta” and “Alright.”
Before starting “King Kunta,” however, Kendrick spotted Yasiin Bey aka Mos Def side-stage, and after a bit of encouragement Yasiin came out to dance around onstage and show love. It was a special moment, as Kendrick told the crowd that Mos Def had inspired him to start rapping. When Kendrick eventually passed him the mic, the crowd was treated to a special version of “Alright.” Check out footage above… and can we make this an official remix, please?
Another highlight of Kendrick Lamar’s show was when he kept it West Coast and did his “Fuckin’ Problems” verse over Dr. Dre’s “Xxplosive.” Check that below.
