If and when these jerseys become a reality, I will pay any price. Because these are magic: Bulgarian-born, Cophenhagen-based designer Patso Dimitrov has combined his love for the NBA with his love for rap music, designing NBA jerseys inspired by iconic albums from the last five years. They’re dope—check all five above, and make sure to note the exquisite details on the left shoulder.
“I was actually thinking of making a jersey for each Kanye album,” Dimitrov told us told us, “But then Piñata started playing and I thought that zebra print would look sick on a jersey. After that I just went through my iTunes to see what other covers would look good.”
The best part? Deimitrov, aside from being a great designer, has impeccable taste in music. The five albums he chose to immortalize belong on most top 5 lists:
As for the numbers? “Seven is the number of God, and Kanye wants everyone to know he thinks he’s a god, so that’s fitting for the Yeezus jersey. Chance’s one is because he has only one solo project, the six for Drake is kinda obvious I think, J.Cole used to play as #15 in high school and the Celebrity All-Star game, and Gangsta Gibbs & Madlib are the only duo on the project, so I thought that’d be a cool number for them.” Personally, I’d love to see what he does with To Pimp A Butterfly. Or DS2.
We will send emergency alerts to your phones as soon as these become available to order, but it might not be tomorrow. Between copyright issues and manufacturing costs, Dimitrov said he won’t be able to go into business alone. Anyone know how to make jerseys? Because I don’t. But Christmas is coming, and that’s the best time of the year to treat yourself.
