UPDATE: A statement from Lauryn Hill’s team explains why the performance didn’t happen:

The Grammy’s announced a performance by Ms. Lauryn Hill prematurely and without approval. Ms. Hill had concerts all weekend, leaving no time to prepare, and was uncertain she would even be able to make it to LA in time to rehearse for the event. Any performance that could have happened was never confirmed, and should not have been advertised as such. Ms. Hill was invited to do a collaboration with an artist she appreciates. The performance was intended to be a surprise and unfortunately due to its last minute nature, was unable to come to fruition.

A number of exciting performances have already been announced for tonight’s 58th annual Grammy Awards, but it looks like there may be a few surprise guests coming our way.

A couple of Instagram posts (below) have surfaced that suggest that the legendary Lauryn Hill will not only be attending the Grammys tonight, but she may also be joining The Weeknd on stage. One of the posts shows Ms. Hill rehearsing with The Weeknd, while the second is of a private jet heading to the Grammys posted by a musician who works with her.

In addition to The Weeknd, Rihanna, Adele, Justin Bieber, and Lady Gaga (who will perform a tribute to David Bowie) will also be performing tonight, along with many others. Drake, however, will not be performing. The Weeknd has been nominated for seven awards, and Kendrick Lamar is in the lead with 11 nominations. Revisit the full list of this year’s nominations here, and catch the Grammys live at 8 p.m. EST on CBS tonight.
