Kanye West's The Life of Pablo tour has been successful so far to say the least, gaining attention for the striking stage design which sees him on a stage suspended above the crowd. Celebrities have been showing up among countless other fans, so it'd be safe to assume that his merch is doing well at the shows, too. Well, TMZ is reporting that is exactly the case, with him setting a new record for merch sales during his Madison Square Garden show in NYC on Monday (September 5).
Selling $780,000 in merch on the Monday show alone (he played Madison Square Garden again on September 6), Kanye West bested the previous record of $540,000 in merch. That previous record was held by Pope Francis, who held a mass at Madison Square Garden last year. That means Kanye has bested the previous record by $240,000, which is no easy accomplishment.
The reports come ahead of Yeezy Season 4, which will be streaming on Tidal later today. Kanye is expected to showcase the latest fashion collection in his Yeezy line, but it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect new music at the show, too, considering he's previously used the shows to debut music. Seasons 1 and 2 saw the premieres of "Fade" and "Wolves," while Season 3 saw the premiere of The Life of Pablo.
The event will be available for Tidal subscribers and will take place at 3 p.m. ET here.
