Earlier this year, hip-hop had a major historical moment as N.W.A. was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. They legendary group joined fellow legends like Run DMC, Beastie Boys, Grandmaster Flash, and Public Enemy in the Hall of Fame. Today, the list of nominees for the forthcoming Rock & Roll Hall of Fame were officially announced, and it appears hip-hop will make even more history at the next ceremony.

On the list of this year's nominees is Tupac Shakur—an artist who continues to stay relevant, even twenty years after his untimely passing. However, Tupac isn't the only surprising name on this year's list of nominees. Other acts like Pearl Jam, Depeche Mode, and Bad Brains come as surprising but deserving nominations. Some other nominees include Janet Jackson, Chaka Khan, Jane's Addiction, and more.
